The Library Ball

A series of costumes depicting the imaginary ball of the century
2021

The Library Ball was a performence piece staged in the library of the university of Haifa. The piece included six interpretations of archetypal costumes made of old books. The actors roamed the large library, looking through the books and wandering through the aisles. The costumes which were made of books that fell into disuse and irrelevency served as a memento mori to the idea of cultural documentaion and rememberence.

After the performence the clothes themselves deteriorated, and only photographic documentation remained.

Some of the images were printed and sold in art galleries, as well as remaining on display at the library of the university of Haifa.

The project was mentioned on the podcast "Dress: Fancy".
